DarkStar is the result of many thousands of hours of Research. Though it was written by a single programmer, it would not have been possible with- out the patience and trust of over 500 active beta testers and a handfull of local SysOps in Benton and Carroll counties in Arkansas. These SysOps, the SysOps of DarkNet and BCSA Net3823, have cumulatively expended tens of thousands of dollars in long distance services and literally thousands of additional hours in testing to provide the result you see before you. DarkStar began as little more than an experiment, at a time when ANSI was the standard and there were no DOS-based graphical BBS systems. The year was 1992, and RIP had not yet made its way out of the closet. And it came to pass, that DarkStar evolved from a small out-of-the-way town in middle America, to become the first BBS system to provide online photos, online digital audio, and a mouse-driven graphical interface.
